Paulo Chemane is the second of seven children, born in Maputo, Mozambique. His love of literacy ignited when his aunt read aloud poems, which she wrote almost daily after Paulo’s school, inspiring Paulo to treasure writing. Throughout high school, poetry and storytelling refined his craft. From the hardship and resilience of his upbringing. He would spend hours listening to a wide range of stories before bed. Now, he writes for children, aiming to share the stories he heard growing up in a way that sparks wonder, empathy, and a lifelong love of reading. Music and Family Influence
Paulo also cultivated a passion for music, drawn from his great-uncle, a professional musician and conductor who wrote the national anthem for Mozambique. Music spread through his family, with his father teaching Paulo's siblings the first chords of guitar.
Move to Australia and further studies: 2007 Paulo moved to Australia to join his family and continue his creative endeavors. There, he wrote his first book, Games of My Street, with the aim of bringing the story to life, he joined a creative art college where he earned a bachelor’s degree in animation at JMC Academy in Brisbane and extended his studies to an advanced diploma in music production, with ambitions to produce and collaborate with his daughter, who follows the family’s musical tradition.
